Our Lord is willing to touch the untouchable. His ministry to the man with leprosy proves the truth of this grace. The Lord Jesus could have simply spoken a word, stretched out His hand, or through any number of means proclaimed healing for this man. Instead, He chose to “touch the man,” which is something no one would normally do for fear of being infected or becoming ceremonially unclean. In so doing, our Redeemer was demonstrating so much about himself. Of course, He displays His power over sickness, disease, and sin; but also His willingness to touch the untouchable and make sure that there is absolutely nothing between His Mercy and Our Need.”

Because when something happens that impacts every man, woman, and child on the planet, you can be assured that THE SOVEREIGN OF THE UNIVERSE is INVOLVED…in one sense, He is certainly NOT the CAUSE of this PANDEMIC, for that goes back to The Fall of Humanity, but He is MOVING in the midst of it.

“PRESS ON…” PHILIPPIANS 3:10-14 | DR. TOBEY MONTGOMERY 02/09/20Because the Servant did not SEE His King correctly, did not appreciate the depth of His own sin, and did not VIEW and RESPOND properly to the King’s Mercy (cf. Romans 12:1)…He who was once free, became bound and tormented by his unforgiveness!
To walk in The POWER of GRACE requires us to walk in the FAITH OF GOD! Because it is NOT our own power, but HIS. Remember, HE is the ONLY REMEDY for Sin! We pause to remember and celebrate the life of a Prophet of God, who sought to bring the Biblical Principles of Justice, Equality, and Love to all people within our nation. Dr. Martin Luther King famously said,
“Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that.” Many of you in our congregation, have the experience of Dr. King’s struggle that someone such as myself will never know, nor do I pretend to do so, but as a Christian and as an American, I am profoundly grateful for the faith, words, courage, and leadership that he and his wife exhibited. In spite of the Darkness, in spite of the hatred, in spite of the violence, he carried his life with dignity, and spoke words of truth that were filled with grace and healing. Dr. King was a true Christian Minister, who sought to address the horrible gap in our nation, with the mighty Truth of God’s Word, the Power of God’s Spirit, and the Certainty of God’s Will. |
